General
Tifogame is a product of Tifogroup BV.
Tifogame.be is an online platform where users can enter predictions on various football matches and tournaments for free. The main events are the European Championship and the World Cup. Many companies organize a private and personalized prediction contest for their staff.
A participant never pays a (monetary) bet.
Tifogroup also organizes public predictions, often in collaboration with partners, with various prizes that anyone can participate in for free.
2.1 Prediction contest types
Tifogame uses two types of predictions:
2.2 PLAYING PERIOD
The period of a prediction may vary from one or more matches of the tournament up to the entire tournament. The participant who collects the most points at the end of the playing period wins the prediction. Each prediction clearly states the period to which it relates: the start and end dates are always specified.
The FIFA World Cup consists of 6 phases:
2.3 GAME FORMULAS AND POINT CALCULATION
The World Cup predictions on Tifogame are offered in 3 game formats:
Each game format makes use of one of the two types of predictions mentioned under 2.1 or a combination of both.
The scoring calculation varies according to the game format.
The following chart shows the most common points distribution for the World Cup predictions.
2.3.1 STANDARD FORMULA
For a prediction that covers the entire tournament, the participant must either only predict the correct result (home win, draw, away win) for the group stage matches, or always predict the exact score. In the following phases, the participant must always predict the exact score for all matches. If the participant indicates in the knockout phase that the match will end in a draw, the user must also indicate which team will win the penalty shoot-out. Extra points can be earned with this.
Points are awarded per match as follows:
Group Stage (predicting result: home win, draw, away win)
In this phase, 2880 points can be earned, distributed over 72 matches.
Round of 32
In this phase, 1280 points can be earned, distributed over 16 matches.
The participant must always give the score after any extra time. If a draw is indicated, the user is asked to indicate which team will win the penalty shoot-out and go through to the next round.
In the round of 32, 10 extra points can be earned for each correct prediction of a shoot-out winner.
Round of 16
The score after possible extra time must always be given by the participant. If a draw is predicted, the user is asked to indicate which team will win the penalty shoot-out and advance to the next round.
In this round of 16, 15 extra points can be earned for each correct prediction of a shoot-out winner.
Quarterfinals
In this phase, 640 points can be earned, distributed over 4 matches.
The score after possible extra time must always be given by the participant. If a draw is predicted, the user is asked to indicate which team will win the penalty shoot-out and advance to the next round.
In the quarter-finals, 20 extra points can be earned for each correct prediction of a shoot-out winner.
Semifinals
In this phase, 400 points can be earned, distributed over 2 matches.
The score after possible extra time must always be given by the participant. If a draw is predicted, the user is asked to indicate which team will win the penalty shoot-out and advance to the next round.
In the semi-finals, 25 extra points can be earned for each correct prediction of a shoot-out winner.
Third-place match
For this match, 200 points can be earned.
The score after possible extra time must always be given by the participant. If a draw is predicted after 120 minutes, the user is asked to indicate which team will win the penalty shoot-out and claim third place.
In the third-place match, 25 extra points can be earned if there is a draw after 120 minutes and the user correctly predicts the shoot-out winner.
Final
For this match, 320 points can be earned.
The score after possible extra time must always be given by the participant. If a draw is predicted after 120 minutes, the user is asked to indicate which team will win the penalty shoot-out and claim the title.
In the Final, 40 extra points can be earned if there is a draw after 120 minutes and the user correctly predicts the shoot-out winner.
2.3.2 EXEPTION A
Full tournament, correct score for all matches
Group stage (with correct score prediction)
In this phase, 2.160 points can be earned, spread across 72 matches.
All other phases follow the standard formula.
2.3.2 EXCEPTION B
Predictions covering the entire tournament (matches of Belgium, the Netherlands, or Germany in the group stage + all matches in the other phases)
For a prediction that covers the entire tournament, the participant must first predict the exact score for the matches of Belgium or the Netherlands during the group stage. In the subsequent phases, the participant must always predict the exact score for all matches. The points are awarded per match as follows:
Group stage
In this phase, 120 points can be earned, spread over 3 matches.
All other phases are identical to the standard formula.
2.3.4 Predictions regarding one or more specific matches
For a prediction concerning one or more specific matches (e.g., 1 match from a specific phase, multiple matches from the group stage on a specific date, all matches from one particular phase, etc.), points are distributed per match as follows:
Each prediction is linked to a ranking. After every match day, the ranking is updated. The participant who is in first place after the last match of the last match day of a prediction is the winner of that prediction. This participant wins the prize as stated under the section ‘Prizes to be won’. The same reasoning applies for second place, third place, etc.
Some cities or municipalities also organize a general ranking with a specific prize pool. A participant who plays in a prediction organized by a retailer, hospitality business, association, etc., offered via the platform of a city or municipality, can thus win prizes multiple times: once or several times via the predictions of retailers, hospitality businesses, associations, etc., and again via the general ranking of the city or municipality. If the participant takes part in the predictions of several local retailers, hospitality businesses, associations, etc., only the best result from their entries counts for the general ranking of the city or municipality.
The organizer of a prediction provides a prize for the winner(s) of the prediction. In every prediction, the prizes are listed under the section ‘Prizes to be won’. Tifogroup BV does not accept responsibility for providing or awarding the prize, unless the prediction is organized by Tifogroup BV itself. The organizer of the prediction is indicated by the name of the prediction and the associated logo.
If the winner is a minor, only their parents (or the person exercising parental authority) may receive the prize.
When a participant has won a prize on Tifogame, he/she receives an automatic message confirming the prize. Within a week of this email, the participant will receive a second email with more information about the prize process.
If the participant does not respond to this second email, they will receive a reminder with a deadline. If the participant does not respond by the stated deadline, Tifogroup BV is free to no longer award the prize to the participant.
Tifogroup BV always reserves the right to close a prediction at any time, without awarding a prize to the winner(s).
The organizer of a prediction also reserves the right not to hand over prizes to unfair winners.
2.6 KNOWLEDGE QUESTION + TIEBREAKER QUESTIONS
Every prediction offered at Tifogame.be is a contest.
Companies that organize an internal prediction for their employees are organizing a contest.
For public competitions on Tifogame, a knowledge question and one or more tie-breaker questions are always asked. Participation is only valid after the participant has answered the knowledge question correctly. If the knowledge question is answered incorrectly, participation is invalid and the participant cannot score any points.
2.7 TIEBREAKERS
The points system is set up so that it is unusual for two well-performing players to achieve the same number of points. However, if two or more players do obtain the same number of points, the order will be determined based on the time of registration. The player who registered first will be ranked higher. This ensures a fair and transparent way to break ties.
The exact procedure is as follows:
This mechanism ensures that in the case of equal scores, the earliest registered player gains an advantage, encouraging timely registration for the contest.
When predicting a single match (thus not for an internal company competition), one or more tie-breaker questions are asked. In case of a tie, the answers to these questions will decide who wins. The person with the best answer will be ranked higher.
3. PLAYER PROFILE
On the dashboard, the participant will find their profile. A participant can add a photo to their profile. If the participant does not choose a photo, a standard avatar will be shown. The photo chosen by the participant may not be discriminatory, offensive, racist, or insulting in any way.
Tifogroup BV reserves the right to change player profile photos. Additionally, Tifogroup BV reserves the right to remove users from the Tifogame.be prediction platform after repeated violations of this rule.
On the dashboard, participants can view a number of personal statistics:
